    Just got mine back from the CPA gotta pay 5k. Not to bad considering I haven't paid any estimated this year. Think she said most of it is for SSI.

    If I send them the right amount of money can I still get penalized if I don't fill out the form correctly or don't use the correct form(s)?

    Pay now, and file for an extension then you will be safe till Oct 15.

    I know! Me too!

    Everyone I know hates it and waits till the last second. I file mine within a day or two of recieving my W2's.

    I love it. We have them hold at the single rate to get money back every year. If we didn't, we would just spend it. Kind of an investment. We get stuff paid off and put money away, each year.

    Ever hear of a savings account? IRA? There's better ways to set money back than to let the government borrow from you interest free.


    I owe this year because the only income I had (that I'm claiming) came from early IRA withdrawal. When I work again (soon I hope) I'll claim myself twice on the W-4 to reduce withholding to a pretty close approximation to what I owe.

    Some of you boys have it all wrong. You need to pay in at the end of the year,not get money back. I would rather pay in many thousands of dollars than get five hundred back. Think about it. You don't have to be a genius to understand.
