explorers like him always interest me. captain cook, lewis and clark. men like these were wild, brutal, smart, daring. i dont know what the modern day equivilent is.
it must have been exciting to live like them. although any honest person would have to say that people today wouldnt be able to handle life back then. they were a different breed during different times. life was short. life was hard. death came early and it was often cruel.
they had sex with 11 yr old girls often. they killed men for stealing worthless trinkets.
they discovered things that will never be discovered again.
kinda romantic, but maybe only because i have air conditioning and a constant source of safe food and water. i also have doctors with medicine and police to safeguard.
who knows ?

    PBS had a special on him last night........man, I learned way more than any history book ever taught me in school, he truely did change, the world some for the good and some for the bad. He went from almost Super-hero status in his hayday to a mear nothing when he died, I never would have guessed the latter.
