Body Found in Produce Truck in Chariton, IA
January 30, 2007--Authorities in Chariton have found a body inside a produce supply truck, parked outside a Hy-Vee distribution center. The body was discovered this morning. The truck where the body was found, is believed to have originated from a Dole plant in Yuma, Arizona.
The Lucas County sheriff's department is in the initial stages of its investigation, so it's too soon to say if foul play is suspected. No further information has been released.
Note: This is one of the warehouses where I use to work. My wife still works for Hy-Vee in a different warehouse. She said that the vice president of warehousing came to inform them of what's going on. Said two Hy-Vee employees were receiving the load of lettuce when they discovered the body. The truck driver who hauled the load from Arizona is not an employee of Hy-Vee. He said they were asked to check the back of their trailers while he was at the Dole warehouse, and he did, but didn't see anything unusual. Right now folks are assuming she was an illegal or a runaway. Iowa DCI is on the scene and is communicating with authorities in Arizona.

Chariton, January 30, 2007-- A dock worker at a distribution plant in Southern Iowa made a disturbing discovery in the trailer of a semi truck Tuesday. It happened at a Hy-Vee distribution center in Chariton.
Shortly after six a.m. authorities were called when the body of a woman was found among a delivery of lettuce. The investigation is still ongoing. No names have been released.
It appears the body that was found was likely that of an Oklahoma City woman who went missing last week.
The mother of Sheila Ross pleaded to her daughter on the phone with a Arizona reporter last week, "Just come home. We love you, we miss you, just come home all we can do is pray that she's safe. Just come home. "
Sheila Ross was reported missing this last weekend. Sheila and her husband, both of whom are truck drivers, drove from Oklahoma City to Yuma, Arizona last week. That's where they made a delivery at a Dole distribution center. That was the last time Sheila was seen.
Sheila's husband reported her missing after she went in to sign for a delivery but never returned to the truck.
Fifteen hundred miles away the body of a woman matching Sheila's discription was found by a dock worker at a Hy-Vee distribution center in Chariton. The truck she was found in originated from the same Dole plant in Yuma where Sheila went misssing.
Authorities say the cause of death is yet to be determined and an autopsy will be performed.
Authorities say they are treating this as a suspicious death. They are not ruling out murder, however the driver of that truck where the woman's body was found is not suspected of any wrongdoing.
