What is a First Cousin, Twice Removed?
If someone walked up to you and said "Howdy, I'm your third cousin, twice removed," would you have any idea what they meant? Most people have a good understanding of basic relationship words such as "mother," "father," "aunt," "uncle," "brother," and "sister." But what about the relationship terms that we don't use in everyday speech? Terms like "second cousin" and "first cousin, once removed"? Your mother's brother's son would be your first cousin. Simple enough.
Your grandfather's brother's son would be the first cousin of you father. He would not be your first cousin. He would be a "first cousin one removed" If this guy has a child, that child would be a second cousin to you. Basically, your father's first cousin, is once removed to you.
If the person was a first cousin of your grandfather, then that person would be a first cousin twice removed to you.
If your grandfather had a cousin (not a brother, but a brother to your great grandfather) who had a child and that person had a child, that person would be your third cousin. add two more generations and that person would be your third cousin twice removed.
Basically, you can say "We're related."

Simple your 1st cousin is the child of you parents sibling ie the child of your aunt or uncle. Your first cousins kids would be your 2nd cousin or cousin once removed. The child of your 2nd cousin would be your 3rd cousin or cousin twice removed.0 -
So if you marry your second cousin, once removed; which means she's the niece of your grandparents; and you have kids; what generation would they be regarding level of removed? 0 -
A first cousins child is your first cousin once removed. Most people call that a second cousin, which it is not. I am old enough to have first cousins twice removed. 0 -
