Years ago i was i booked a Hunt on the Bostick plantation in S.C. and went to the gunshop looking fer a backup.My eyes fell upon a homely looking NO4 MK1 .303 Brit.The gun had been sporterized.I bought it and soon was taken with this crude looking weapon.For some reason this gun was not so accurate so i sold it.Was,nt long I missed the gun and was looking in Gunbroker for another.I won a bid on another sporterized model,a hack job for $75.When i received the gun i first looked at the bore.I could hardly believe my eyes!The Bore had no visible pitting and the rifling looked sharp.Also all #,s matched,even the magazine. I had made a good deal!The sporterized stock looked terrible though so i was soon restoring the gun back to its factory cond.I buffed the gun down to the white,and with the help of Brownell,s started putting her back into new condition.At Numerich i found a stock,unused and had to reshade i piece to match up the wood.I,ll post a pic after Christmas.Who else loves these guns?

    They are very nice rifles. I have one and also have a new barrel for it. Someday it will find it's way onto the rifle. For now though, the barrel it has is quite satisfactory.

    Has a smoother action than my 700 BDL.

    Shoot a 1915 vintage Smelly, and a 1944 version. Fun guns, fast bolts, decent accuracy and power. Just wish I had bought a lifetime supply of the Greek Milsurp ammo when it was cheap and plentiful. Surplusrifle.com has some good info on these for them that are interested.

    I love mine as well...My first enfield was an all matching 1944 lithgow SMLE (dad bought this one for me as a gift years ago), and I bought my No 4 for 50 bucks from a buddy, so far it's the best rifle I've bought.

    I have one and other than dings in the stock it is pristine. I had it for 3 or 4 years before I decided to shoot it. Man was I missing out. I have alot of fun shooting mine. They are impressive rifles and accurate. Now I have to get an original buttstock cleaning kit (although I admit I like the brass oier better) and a sling and it will be set.
