Over the last 40 years many different bands were my favorite at one
    time or another.
But the Bands that have stood the test of time for me are,

    Niel Young
    Rolling Stones
    RUSH
    C.C.R.

Rock Bands have to include the Allman Brothers. top touring grosser for years was The Grateful Dead. After that there are a lot of possibles. I think I would go with the Stones, the oldest living (Ok we are not sure about Keith Richard or Ron Wood) rock musisians of all.

True, they are pretty much a given

Plus, they pretty much went out on a limb to break the "black/white music" barrier. Imagine, a "Southern Rock" band, with a black bandmember?!?

    1)Springsteen
    2)Springsteen
    3)Springsteen

"Born to Run" "Atlantic City" "Glory Days" "The River" "Open All Night" "Thunder Road" , et al...'nuff said.

But--if you need to break into the whole "Southern Rock" genre, check out Drive By Truckers's "Steve McQueen".

    But that's 'nother post.

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, as a HUGE Springseen fan from the 70's (the man delivered us from the sucking hell of disco, isn't that enough?), his talents harken back to Bobby Dylan, and the great story teller, songwriters of previous generations....

Of the two, the beatles were the ones who were musically talented. Unfortunately they discovered Lucie in the Sky with Diamonds, and never came back from the strawberry fields while visiting with the eggman and the walrus. Zepplin, was nothing more than a drugged out bunch of want to bes who had no musical talent what so ever, and their music only appeals to those who were turned on, tuned in, and droped out. quote:Originally posted by ripley16
