s&w 340pd
Thinking about buying the Smith and Wesson 340pd. It is probably a blast to shoot. Also a great conceal gun. Anybody have any comments on the 357.

Have the 640 - bought it for the wife's CCW - everybody who uses it at the range loves it, and are surprised at how well they shoot with it. With target range .38 loads, it is pretty tame, but with .357 loads it is right snappy. Wife is quite happy with it and .38 loads for all day at the range, and is happy with carrying the .357 loads.
Brother has tried to trade us out of it on several occasions, and surprised himself with shooting it better than his 40 S&W Glock.0 -
Not a big surprise to me.

Matt has a 340. I know he loves it, he'll be around shortly to tell you about it. 0 -
I have a 360.
So light you forget you are carrying it.
I just use 38+p in it because the 357 has more bite and probably not much difference in power out of that short a barrel.
Pretty accurate little gun.0 -
I have the 340sc. Love it. Accurate and a joy to carry.
I bought some Federal SD ammo when I got it. One box of .38+p and one box of .357.
I still have 19 out of the original 20 rounds of .357!! [:o)]
That little dog will BITE you!!0 -
I have a S&W 340. It is a pleasure to carry it in my jeans front pocket, but be warned: with .357 rounds, it kicks like a mule.
I had a 158 gr. CCI Brass .357 bullet become dislodged from the casing, thus causing the cylinder to lock. I must advise you to instead load it with .38 Spcl. +P+ rounds.0 -

Unlike your choice in baseball teams, you called this one!
Everyone above about summed it up. Shooting it with .357's is indeed a man's sport, though unlike Bones, I have had no problem with .357 ammo at all. Would be interested in the particulars of this incident from ya doc.
Wife carries it if I don't grab it first.
Had mine about two years or so and it has functioned flawlessly for probably 400-500 rounds. Practice with .38's, carry with .357's. It is not a target gun, it is a "you should not invade my personal space like that" gun.
I put the CTC laser grips on it and it is a great little package.
