how good is Remington customer service

i have a Remington model four is 270 that the action wont always close when cycling live ammo. i have looked around here but there are only two gunsmiths within 60 miles of here and they both want 100 just to look at the gun. i'm thinking of just sending it into Remington to see what they will charge to repair it. normally i can do some repairs but on this model you have to remove the barrel to get at the bolt. and i was told its a pain in the arse to do. anyway just wondering how there customer service is and weather it would be worth to send it in.

    Send it in. The only time I had to pay to have a Remington fixed was when I did something wrong-like knock over an 1100 and cracked the forend.

    I even had a plug screw break off on a newer gun-clearly my fault-and they removed it and sent it back for free. Another case of the gun industry doing right by it's customers.

    If every business ran like most firearm related businesses, the USA would not be in the kind of trouble we are in-and it's still the best place to live in the world.

    I sent a 700 bolt action rifle in to Remington's service center, they fixed the problem at no cost to me.[:D]

    I have dealt with them several times over the years. Call them first. They will more than likely have you send it to an authorized gunsmith to fix it. There may be one fairly close to you. I sent in a new Rem 700 VS that needed work on the bolt face and it went to a New York outfit. I have always had good service.
