The Rifleman and Bat Masterson!
There was a 24 hour marathon for each this weekend on Encore!!
My butt hurts from sitting and watching so much Lucas McCain and bat Masterson!!
Did anyone else watch any of the marathon? When I was a kid, my friend and I watched every Rifleman episode. It was great!

What rifle did The Rifleman actually use? And, is it actually possible to cock it by flipping the rifle outward while holding the lever and then snapping it back in? Or, is that only possible on TV? 0 -
I guess so. Never tried it myself but one time with my 1892 Winchester rifle. Hit myself in the shin and about broke my fingers at the same time....[:(!][:(!]

Model 1892 not the 94 as thought, with a set screw to trip the trigger they also had an offbrand made for the TV show. Remember the old saying "Whatever Trips your Trigger"

The new GUNS AND AMMO has a story on Chuck Connors and the rifles used in The Rifleman. Very interesting. Conners was evidently a very adept firearms user, who practiced to perfect his arms handling. According to the story he practiced with live ammo so that when he used blanks he made it look "more real". His handling and twirling was accomplished because he was a healthy, strong, athletic 6' 5" man.

Possible. . .yes.
Sane. . .no.
Not only is it liable to damage the gun, but stunts like that with live weapons are also liable to damage the operator (and/or nearby environment).0 -
Sure hope they also bring back Clint Walker in "Cheyenne" also. And how about the Wyatt Earp series also. Some good clean T.V. for a change. 0 -

It, is a Winchester model 1892. They had three of them for prop use. It was a 20" carbine, not the full length barrel rifle by the way.0 -
Those shows remind me of my Grandfather chain smoking cigs... 0
