My truck again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep, Ive had it out from the shop for a few days now and the darn thing died on me again. This is after putting on that electric send unit on my gas line and everything. Which by the way Im going to get my money back for or at least attempt to. I guess I have to find another mechanic or something. If I had the time and the shop I know I would be able to figure it out, I dont know why these guys cant. I hope they are not taking me for a ride. I will find out today.

I know you keep saying it's a fuel problem, but have you eliminated all ignition problems. The fuel system on those old trucks is not that complicated.
The problem you are having sounds like it could be a spark problem too. The Ign. module(your truck should have electronic ignition), the pick-up coil and the ignition coil can all exhibit a cold running function, but when they get hot they fail. When the engine cools down they will work again. Has anyone checked for spark once the engine has shut down?0 -
The problem is in the fuel system. When the truck gets warm the gas that is pushes in to the fuel pump blows the diaphragm which of course causes the lack of fuel sytem compression. It did not have this problem until after my heads were replaced. The fuel pumps keep going bad. They screwed it up somehow and hopefully they can just call in an oldtimer so the job can get done. 0 -

I will tell you why. Most (dealer) mechanics of today are nothing more than computer techs. If they plug into your onboard computer and no error code pops up on their monitor,they don't know how to fix your problem. Very few of them know how to troubleshoot a problem on their own. I had a vehicle with an intermittent problem and took it to the dealer four times for the same problem. Three times I was told "sorry but the computer does not show an error code". The fourth time the computer told them to change the elec. fuel pump.0 -
Its a mom and pop business. I dont go to dealerships for any of my mechanical needs. Now my wifes Yukon is a different story. It has a warranty and they do a ggod job on her vehicle. Im doubt they would know what to do with a 76 Ford. 0 -
Didn't you say that they installed an electric fuel pump to feed the mechanical pump? Take one or the other off. 0
