...does it just feel right to be in physical contact with a loaded weapon? I feel almost naked without one...have been like that ever since I got back from overseas.

do I suddenly have an urge to buy an AR? I've never wanted a "black rifle" in my life until yesterday at the gun shop...

Why do we mourn the loss of someone when they pass instead of celebrating their life and their time with us? I think that would be a more befitting way to get closure.

Let me explain a little on my thinking here.

Mourning seems a very selfish act. We focus on how we will miss the departed, and how we are going to have to adjust without them, etc.

Celebrating seems like a focus on the departed, giving them a big send-off to the afterlife, and remembering the good times they shared with us, the knowledge that they passed on to us, and how they lived their life.

Yes, we have every right to be sad at the passing of a loved one, but we should be happy FOR THEM because they have achieved life everlasting.

Does it taste like a cat took a crap in my mouth? Probably because last night I was drinking New Castle while smoking an Onyx cigar and a half a pack of Camel Turkish Golds.

Different cultures treat death in different ways. The ancient Etruscans held banquets for the recently departed featuring music and dancing with a lot of drinking. Each culture has its own way of expressing grief or dealing with the death.

However, in OUR culture it is traditional and expected to be somber and respectful towards the recently deceased and drop our differences even though some people seem upset at the concept.

At the very least we should say nothing about the deceased if we simply can't find it our hearts to say something nice (are you listening, Kristov and Mateo?).

    Horse hockey!

What don't ya say something nice about Sadamm or Jeffrey Dahmler then? Or nothing? The death penalty thread running now shows your read on societal norms to be flawed.

The guy was an ass and made threats against me and my family. You or no one else need "rule" on WHAT I do or say with regard to those who attack my loved ones be they alive OR dead. If you don't want an honest response from me, don't throw it open for discussion or be presumptuous enough to pompously preach at me.

Say something nice about Ranchero Paul...

    I knew this would happen.

It IS possible to simply smile and say nothing.

Possible not to also. Believe me when I say I practiced restraint. If ya'll want to keep picking at it don't be surprised by a response.
