I have a DPMS 24" bull barrel and I use H335 or military surplus WCC-844 (same thing). I use 55g bullets either Vmax or Calhoun HP and 25.2g of powder. This has worked well in all of my AR's and bolt action .223's. I have yet to find the exact sweet load for my 24" but I will be working from this point to get to it. 0 -
Depending on the rifling of the barrel many AR's are VERY responsive to the much heavier bullets, 68 grain and up. If you have a 1 in 9 or a 1 in 7 or 8 twist barrel, load up some heavy bullets and push em' fast. You won't be disappointed. 0 -
My DPMS heavy barrel shoots 0.5" with 69 gr BTHPs and around a foot with 55 grainers.
They are very sensitive to twist rate/bullet weight.0 -
vol fan- you're not supposed to be shooting at feet. Were they your own or someone elses? 0 -
barrel twist is 1x8(24 in. brl). i am suprised that i am unable to find a "gun magazine review" for this rifle. the review usually gves info about the best factory load to try.
thanks for the info0 -
I would try the heaviest ammo you can get your hands on. That thing will be awesome with some 77 grain hollowpoints. 0
