    I scored 3 points shy on the test. [B)] Apparently they take those tests results pretty seriously. But in my own defense I had to wizz really bad while I was taking it.

    My father was...but he wasn't involved with it much. He said he "went a few times, but didn't like the people there." I don't know that he likes anyone all that much......the people of the local MENSA association, family, neighbors, four-legged animals, Elvis impressionists....he just isn't "into" liking things that breathe.

    Alas, I was disqualified due to insufficient idiosyncracies.

    I also answered question number three on the entrance exam with "Antidisestablishmentarianism" and the correct response was supposed to be "Orange".

    Reminded me of one of my favorite Peanuts cartoons:

    "I know! I know! The answer lies in the heart of all mankind.
    The answer is twelve? I think I'm in the wrong room."


    I thought they just gave you a standard IQ test with a minimum score required?

    Anybody know what the minimum is?

    once many years ago i was told score on an IQ test but now am smart enough to know that i have done little except stand in awe of those like Hawking whose mind can leap out into darkness & shine the light of creativity & understanding where i am unable to even open the door for a glimpse.........

    We had a tenant who was an attorney. She boasted that she was a member of Mensa.
    The house had gas logs in the fireplace. We told her not to light the logs unless the damper was open. We showed her how to open the damper, it was a chain that you pulled down, and it would catch in a little clip on the front right side of the fireplace. We told her that to burn the fireplace with the damper closed would risk death by carbon monoxide poisoning.
    This attorney was going to move out and my girlfriend went over to inspect the house. The living and dining rooms were covered with a layer of soot!
    The genius told my girlfriend that she didn't want to lose money in heat going up the fireplace, so she had been burning the fireplace with the damper closed!
    I had to repaint the entire living room and dining room. What a miracle that we didn't wind up with a corpse in that house, and guess who her lawyer buddies would have sued?
    Before the next tenant moved in, I climbed up on the roof, and blocked the damper open with a brick. It was a cast aluminum chimneytop damper. This meant that every day of the winter, the new tenant would have heat funnelling right out the open chimney and into the sky. But, at least, they couldn't kill themselves and soot up our house.

    Our Mensa tenant was so smart she was stupid.

    But I am not saying they all are, steeltoe I am sure you have plenty of common sense.

    they do not use traditional IQ test scores at all, they use percentage of the test

    I attended a couple of Mensa parties some years ago. Talk about a bunch of social incompetents. Some of those folks were flat strange, I mean make Dano II look normal strange. I declined the test.

    I don't recall ever taking an IQ test, but if I did, nobody ever told me what the score was. I do remember when I was in school we were all above average intelligence but none of us performed to our potential. There's an awful lot of stuff in my permanent record.

    Two of my majors were Sociology and Psychology so you know I am not the most average guy at any party, but some of those folks were in the ozone. Perhaps the orginal geeks. Naturally I mean that in the nicest possible way.

    You ever notice when somebody says something which can't be taken in a nice way, they say "I didn't mean that in a bad way."?

    I had an Executive Officer who looked me in the eye and said "Jim, you're the hardest headed son-of-a-bitch I've ever met ? ? ? ? I didn't mean that in a bad way." I took it as a complement, but then I'm not a member of MENSA. [:D]
