I love this rifle.
I think the Ruger #1A is the most beautiful production rifle made. I have three in different calibers. Today I took the 7x57 to the range as I always celebrate the 4th of July by exercising my Second Amendment rights.
The #1s are not known for outstanding accuracy and they often string their groups due to the way the fore-end is hung off the barrel. But this one shoots pretty good if you ask me. Ammo was some military surplus stuff from Belgium stamped 1970 that launches a 139 grain FMJ BT at 2900 FPS. Pretty warm. Scope was a Leupold 3x9x40 Vari-Lux II set at 6X. Shooting was off a padded rest not supporting the butt.
The first group was the best as this rifle does string the shots as the barrel heats up from firing. It measures 21/32" and is nearly perfectly symmetrical. Just had to adjust the PoI a tad and it's good to go.
I love this rifle.

The best part of the trip was that I didn't break anything or hurt myself. [:D]

+1, love that Alexander Henry forearm. Sold mine a couple of months ago to get a gun I really wanted, now I regret it. It was a .270 with unreal wood. here is the stock. Held it value real good over the years.

As the proud owner of two No. 1's (30-06 and 300 Win Mag), there is no argument here.[^] 0 -
I would say that shoots pretty darn nice! Its a fine looking rifle also![:0][:0] 0 -

That is definitely a fine looking rifle there Saxon. Nothing fancy about it, just some really nice looking wood and a package that just seems to fit together well. Same reason I love the Remington 700 BDL. Just out of curiosity, what other calibers do you have them in?

Jon0322- 7mm is in the middle, on right is a .243 (previous owner shortened the butt for his wife or kid and I really need to replace it) and the 458 Winchester Magnum is on the left.
dcon- I tried to hit the X but it kept moving on me.0 -
Dcon- here you go. This is the next target fired. The group is a little wider but I did hit the X. twice.
