Former or current Military or Beretta owners.
I dont know why I havent tthought to post this yet but I see alot of you have been in the service and Im hoping some has been since the introduction of the Beretta M-9 into service.I have 4 friends in the service, finally spoke with one a couple days ago who I havent talked to in maybe 7 months who is over seas and he got me thinking about this again.Out of all my friends that are in the service now or have been only 1 of them likes the Beretta M-9 EVERY other one has classified this gun as a certified P.O.S.Do any of you that have been in,have experience with this gun or own this gun concur with their thoughts on the overall quality of this gun because it seems to me that is troops are this unhappy with a firearm is should be time for another one to replace it.As a matter of fact one of my buddy's said that he was given a Sig P-228 when he got reassigned and the difference between the 2 guns was night and day and he prayed he never got that Beretta back. Are they really this bad?

they've been in service since 1985,aluminum parts wear out and need to be replaced or new parts installed. remember they're not the 1911A1 the more they were shot and the looser they were the better they worked 0 -

I really like my Beretta 92FS, no problems so far after maybe 2000 rounds or so. We'll see what happens next.
Mine is made in Italy, I have heard scuttlebutt that theose are a little better but nothing concrete
Could it be a mater of being issued old-azz M9s which had already changed hands a gazillion times?0 -
My friend over seas said that the sand over there id tearing them to pieces and making them malfunction left and right.Which I know sand will do that to just about any gun but he said its to an extreme that other guns that are over there arent malfunctiong and are just as dirty. 0 -

A lot of the problem is the mags not handling sand and grit. I think the gun is bigger and bulkier than it needs to be. I carried a sig 229 over there and didn't have any problems. FWIW the iraqi police and army had glocks and they worked great. 0
