The, and I do mean the only sure way to get rid of them is to make sure you not only kill the live flees, but the eggs as well. To do this, make sure your fogger has Pyrethrins in the active ingredients. Hot Shot foggers are one of the better ones for the least money. You can pay a lot more for Adams brand at the per stores or your vet, but the Hot Shot are about half the price and work just as well. Note, if you have birds or any other small animals DO NOT let the fumes get to them at all or they will be dead, Dead, DEAD!! We lost several breeder pairs of fairly expensive birds several WEEKS after using them.

Well, it's better just to use Frontline on the individual animals, and vacuum the carpet repeatedly for a month or two after to get new hatch and eggs. Go to a farm and ranch store where you can buy professional kennel strength concentrate that you mix with water and spray the yard and under the house and outbuildings. Bombing the house and filling the nap of the carpet with poison is not necessary and is harmful to family and pets. One bomb every six months should be the limit, if you do use it.

You need a good vacuum like an Oreck.

First house we had was a fixer-upper
and we had animals and of course fleas.
With two little girls it took a couple of
years to start really fixing up the home but
by this time the fleas were in the walls
and firmly in bedded in the rugs we had put in.
So when I started opening up doorways
we disturbed the mother flea load.
Almost went broke buying bombs, so we hired
a pest control guy and he sprayed,
killed them all and told us after
the next "egg" hatch we'd see 'em again
for a short time and they'd be gone,
--exactly as he said it and for
the next 9 yrs in that house, no more fleas.
It's a good idea to hire somebody on this one,

I haven't had a flea problem in years . That said I watched my X's dog years ago and became infested with them .

Before fogging I put down a dinner plate filled to the top with water and a little dish soap to break the surface tension of the water ( if you don't they'll jump in and float rather than sink and drown ) and place a clamp light on a chair or table leg just a few inches above the surface ( 3-4' ) and you'll be rather surprised at just how many are in your plate in the morning .

Not sure if it's the light or the heat from the bulb but it works well to kill alot of them .

    Then fog the house .

Other good info listed in other posts above also .

The carpet powder, and regular bathing/treatment of the dogs works well for us. Weekly bathing with tick & flea shampoo, and monthy treatment with spot-on. Powder on the carpet and vacced weekly.

Wife says this only happened when people decide to "do their once dose". They over dose the pet to rid a out of control flea problem instead of washing the pet properly first. The doses go by weight, not by amount of fleas. It is absorbed thru the skin, some idiots gave it orally.

You need to bomb the house and treat the pets at the same time.

    buy a new house.

when we first moved to columbus, we rented a 3bed 1 bath house for $425 month...the guys that moved out were...interesting characters.
after they moved out, we went to do a good full house cleaning and opened their room and was immediately attcked by thousands of fleas.
we lived there for almost 3 years and never did kill em all even after 7 different times setting off flea bombs (one in each room 7 times)

this does attract them, curious, and gross enough, and i am not sure why, but it's not very effective in cases of infestation.

    fog 'em.

ask at your local farm supply what is best.

Treat your yard also. Even if you clen the house of fleas, if you neglect to treat your yard you only reinfest each time the dogs go out. Don
