It's not the words, it's the expression's negative connotation.
Going ape is an acceptable expression now, but the original term was; "going apeslime".
Before that one, SNAFU was worse but became
civilized when the F became fouled.

Okay here it is....On the news the other night, thursday I think, the newscaster was reporting a story about football teams, least I think it was football...Anywho, some fans were asked to hold some letters and then turn them over on a signal...when turned over, the letters read

    WE SUCK

Now why on earth couldnt any newscaster say the words?....Even the radio show I listen to in the mornings (and they say anything..whooooooo man do they) couldnt or wouldnt say it...

Why not?...What is so wrong with it or am I completely missing something?..

This prank was based on a famous prank carried by Cal-Tech College at the 1962 Rosebowl.

The amazing thing is that this latest was reprtedly orchastated and done by a HS student. It took ALOT of thought and planning.
There were hundreds of cards placed to be held up. Some blank and others w/only a portion of the letters used to make the words. The opposing fans surely wouldn't have held up cards saying "WE SUCK" if they had known what was being spelled out.
Absolutely BRILLIANT for a HS student to pull off!

The phrase "WE SUCK" may be thought of three ways.

    1. The team sucks

    2. Sexual connotation

    3. And worst of all for the TV station, someone getting free advertising.

It shows very poor taste. I have never used that term, nor have I ever given anyone the "finger".
