To ALL: Jack's Hardware, in Nahcotta Washington, is a fantastic hardware store. They carry LODGE cast iron. They are on the web.

I buy nasty rusted cast iron ware at swap meets (for ten cents on the dollar)and then, with use of an air-driven sander/grinder, I polish up the surfaces - I make the interior of the pots and skillets baby smooth, and then with a good seasoning, it is as non-stick as Cast Iron can get - you have to try to make something stick.

We don't have a cast iron skillet...my mama does though. Love me some fried okra cooked in it. Dutch oven, well, that's what I do at night to piss off the wife. [;)]

...Nothing makes better cornbread than a cast iron skillet. I found a Dutch oven in an abandoned farmhouse, that had been there forever, half full of fossilized food. Sandblasted it, seasoned it, and it's a great deep fryer.
...Mine's all Lodge, except for this little Griswold #3 skillet that I got at an estate sale. It's perfect for one or two eggs. It has a really smooth finish.
