Firearms Insurance?
This came to mind yesterday when I went to pay our Home Owners Insurance Policy for this yr. Do you have your guns insured? I would not do it because they will know every firearm you have and the serial#. So I have enough Home Owners Insurance to cover my guns or at least I hope I do, but Im not sure if it would cover theft, thats one reason I have 3 Dobermans and a Boxer with access to our house and yard. I have a $1,000.00 through the of course that would not cover my AR-15 and supplies for it. And Ive never heard of anyone collecting Insurance from the NRA. Whats your thoughts?

I tried to get insurance for mine, insurance companies would not touch it due to items / number involved. Gunsafe, alarm, dogs, low profile. 0 -
You can raise your limit on firearms without itemizing them.
Also, NRA's insurance only comes into effect after your homeowners limits are exhausted. Once, I did not have renters or homeowners insurance, and had my Glock stolen. It had been customized, and had an extra $300 in it. They paid for everything quickly.

Most homeowners insurance will cover up to X $ worth of guns and accesories WITHOUT having the serial numbers, models. etc etc. Of course, if you file a claim, you may need that info at that time. If you are a NRA member, you have $1000 in coverage- OVER any other insurance. You can buy more from the NRA for a pretty good price- and again, you do not need to list the guns UNLESS you want to "schedule" a single high dollar gun (Think its over $5000 for one gun). Yeah, the safe and alarms are good. Does not do a thing for tornados, floods, etc. Talk to your agent for your homeowners or renters insurance, and go to the NRA website, and read up on your bennies. Uh..... You ARE a member of the NRA, right? 0 -
I heard collectors insurance company is good, they have a website and are about half the cost of nra insurance, I havent used them yet but was planning to. 0 -
Farmers will drop you like a rock, once you say you have over $10,000 in firearms.
So dont tell them jack.
I have Hertiage Insurance on mine, they charge around 3.5 percent per year with $1,000 deduct, and do nothing but collectables & firearms.
There are 2 or 3 good compaines that do firearms, Goggle it.0 -
Use State Farm here, she told me in a fire they where covered up to 10,000. as far as theft goes i added an additional 10,000 personal property to the policy. i can then give them the numbers if they ever get stole and get a new one. my standard for theft of a firearm was 5000 now 15000. ewu thats cutting it close since i got the new pistola.
they would make one hell of racket trying to rip the safe from the floor and if they torch it they will ruin everyone of them.????
It can be done, but it could be difficult0 -
I guess the best bet would be to get the NRA insurance. 0 -
...State Farm won't let me add a "rider" for additional coverage. I can buy a separate personal property policy for the guns, but the price is right at what the NRA, Farmer's, and Country Companies charges.
...I've been checking out CIA (Collectibles Insurance Agency) and they seem pretty decent on rates, though I have no references to speak with. www.collectinsure.com0
