You don't really have to buy a "bound book." It was called a bound book back in the good old days when the feds were concerned about you taking out pages and rewritting them, etc. But today, with computerized records, etc, that same concern seems to have disappeared. If you have a computer with word processing capability, you can made your own. Simply go to :
http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/text/text-idx?c=ecfr;sid=47811d83e00275acbe29f7ed5727217e;rgn=div5;view=text;node=27:3.0.1.2.3;idno=27;cc=ecfr#27:3.0.1.2.3.4.1.10
And then scroll down to section H, near the bottom. There is one format for dealers, another importers and another for C&R folks. I have found it easier to get all the information in the boxes by dividing the form into two pages: one for acquisition and other for disposition and turning the page from portrait to landscape. This lets you make the boxes much bigger. After you have constructed your template, take the master forms (one page for acquisiton and another for disposition) to your local copy shop. Then have them print a single, acquisition page (this will be page 1) on one side of a piece of paper. Then have them print a dispostion page (this will be page 2) and then have them print an acquisiton page (this will be page 3) on the back of page 2. Then just print the rest of the pages back to back. Next, lay them out in book form (alternating) and have them put it together with a spiral binding, but make sure you explain to them that the lines from one page (the acquisiton page) have to line up with the lines from the facing (disposition) page. You can make it look really sharp with a fancy cover and some art work or your name, business, etc. Best of luck -- Steve
PS. I already have a template for a C&R version. If you'd like a copy just email me and I'll send it to you.0 -
