Now over a foot of snow
They're estimating 16" total. 40MPH winds are good for 5-6' drifts. And we're only 1/2 way through it. Plants around town are closing down (sans my plant of course, and we have people coming from an hour and a half away). My neighbor's saturn is snowed in as well.
I'm trying to find the camera.

My neighbor's Saturn....The wind is blowing so hard it won't stick to anything but other snow.

Chicago has it's panties in a wad.
The wind is blowing but little snow is falling. More is just blowing. Visibility is not bad.
Looks like the central part of the state got dumped on.0 -

Mrs. Plaid's question about living in the country:
THere's 8 inches, but I can still see my grass. Where doe it go?
Still can't tell if it's snowing or just blowing. VIsibility ain't that bad though.
Just heard Mrs. Plaid rant about work last night. Officers asking if this township, that township, and the county has been called about road conditions. People going into ditches. Trying to find tows for people with no cash, just credit card. At the edge of suburbia it cost $100 to get pulled out of a ditch. No tow, pulled out of a ditch.
$100! Talk about bending over and taking it up the rear.
She's still ranting about people not smart enough to slow down and calling 911 to complain about road conditions.0 -
Man I wish we would get snow like that. 0 -
Just called my Mom in Anderson and it is coming down hard 0 -
North Central Illinois (Peoria Area) is getting DUMPED on. [:D] 6" and it is still coming down thick.
EDIT: Check that. Just talked to a guy blowing snow off the sidewalk in front of my apartment and he said 8" around the property. It is drifting like none other too. Tomorrow should be interesting too.0 -

Ivy Tech closed for the day but wisely announced it yesterday. A lot of my students drive from out of town. Snug and watching snow falling and blowing like a fine fog on our street. My only complaint, the day's too short to enjoy emailing, TV, videos, and reading. Odds are against another gift day tomorrow. 0 -
...We have the same color Saturn, and that pic could be from my window. The drift in front of the house is part way up the window, about 4 1/2'. Visibility is less than 100 yards.
...Went to town for beer and milk and took fields part of the way. There are almost no drifts out there, but it's easy to get disoriented when you can't see anything but bean stubble. Think I'll go for another ride, just for the fun of it.0 -
My wife drives 60 miles cross country to work each day as a teacher. she just called, they let her go early, and cancelled school already for tomorrow. Why they didn't cancel for today is beyond me. 0 -
oh we got 10" easily already, but you cant see anything.its blowing so bad.i cant see from my house to my garage,10-15 yards.we have a 4' drift running down the middle of the drive way.ill bet ive only seen 10 vehicles all day long.and the last ones were power trucks! yeah i would say we got a blizzard going here today...central illinois winter gotta love it...... 0 -
6"-8" around the warsaw/fort wayne area
the wind is nasty-drifting really bad everywhere
hwy 30 is not to bad yet-hwy 69 is a parking lot0 -
Word's in, school's out tomorrow. It's more time for gettingback and checking out what's happening on GB, than in a long while. Why is it, you start craving pizza when you can't get out to pick it up and nobody's delivering? Like nose itch when you're at attention. 0 -

Hey, welcome back! I'm hoping for them to close the plant. I'm supposed to be on nights, someone that was scheduled to come in in the morning called me and said they wouldn't be able to make the drive. So, now I'm on days. Hopefully they shut it down, VERY UNLIKELY.0 -
Stay warm, it'll pass. 0 -
Don't worry about it It will go away soon. 0 -
Whoohoo! Snow day tomorrow!
Heading our way tonight....
But then a foot to two are not usually considered "emergent"....0 -

I laughed when I read that post Nick. My wife is also off today and tomorrow, and she really had a craving for a pizza. We went out and checked the animals and gave them some feed, and that was enough to convince her that it wasn't worth even making an attempt to get one. Some days it's best to just sit tight and wait it out.[:)]0 -
Thanks, Cubs, hope you get a break on going in for that shift. Dirj, whattya wanna bet, there'll be a big run on pizza and whatever else we all couldn't get, soon as they plow the streets and lift the travel restriction snow emergency? 0 -
Yep, I think the storm is supposed to lay down around noon or a little after tomorrow up here by Ft. Wayne. I figure about two hours with the Bobcat will get the driveway open, and then I'll bet there will be a trip to town for the pizza.
We'll need to check the roads before she heads back to school on Thursday, you know.[:D][;)]0 -
So did you find the camera where I said it was?[}:)][:D][:0][:D]

Yeah, it was hidden behind the strawberry flavored oil, not the Pina Colada one that you said. [:0]0 -
...Thought I'd move the Saturn before the drift in front of it got too high. Too late. Couldn't move a foot. I dragged it out with the Silverado and parked them in a clear spot. Now it's drifting them in again. Nothing with 2 wheel drive is going to get down our road. The township finally wised up and quit plowing for now. All they were doing was making things worse. 0
