Little Heads Up for AR15 Builders.

I first saw this photo in a Shooting Times magazine and have since seen it in other DIY AR15 guides.



Notice that in the bottom picture the torque wrench is mated inline to the barrel nut/AR multi tool.
A very big mistake when torqueing anything with an extension.
The way to get the correct torque value of your wrench is to mate it to the AR multi tool at a 90% to the wrench.
By having them in line and extended past the ratchet part of the torque wrench the torque value is magnified greatley and the value you were seeking (in the case of a AR15 barrel nut of 60'lbs) would be more like 600' lbs. (maybe exagerated a little[:D])

This may not mean anything to you but it gripes me that articles are writen and the process is so grossly mis-represented.

I can explain it further if I didn't make sense the first time around.

  Here's the formula when using an extension
  
  M1 = M2 x L1 / L2
  
  Where:
  
  M1 is the torque setting of the wrench.
  
  M2 is the actual torque applied to the nut
  
  L1 is the normal length of the wrench
  
  L2 is the extended length of the wrench

  The formula is good except there is no where in the article that gives the formula, only where the torque values are given.
  
  All they would have to do is rotate the torque wrench to 90% (Which in the picture would be straight up) and it would be dummy proof. No formula needed.
