Nighthawk vs. Kimber
What makes the Nighthawk $1000 bucks better than a Kimber?

Black magic and gimmickry. 0 -
The nighthawk has voodoo power? Nice, I shot one and liked it a lot, then I saw the price............and was like WTH? 0 -
As long as you get a Kimber with the internal extractor I can't see it. Kimbers are well made and I have had experience with at least a dozen of them with no problems and very good accuracy. 0 -
kimber doesn't even compare, nighthawk is a custom made gun made one at a time, the gunsmiths at Wilson combat all got together and formed their own company, they are true artisans of the craft, and some of the best who ever built a 1911
only negative i can say, which really isn't a negative is that they leave to much metal in the grip housing, and it puts it over the weight limit for competition by 1 ounce, other than that i would pay their price in a heart beat over kimber any day0 -
I have been looking at the model......

The Kimbers are great 1911 pistols.
The difference between a Kimber and the high end 1911s are that the high end 1911 companies are making a bunch more money.0 -

Thats the only diff?0 -
it is the differance between a gun that is machine made with tight tolerances and a gun that is hand fitted, the hand fitted gun will always be more expensive. 0 -

Not the only difference[:o)]
It all depends on what you want the 1911 for?
I do see the Nighthawks have the bushingless barrel that was designed by The Detonics co. and that is a vast improvement over the original barrel/bushing combination.
I have owned a Les Baer and it was a 1911 made great but for what I want in a 1911 a Kimber works fine for a lot less money.0 -
I shot the Nighthawk (rental) at a range a few weeks ago and honestly it was the best shooting 1911 I have ever shot. However, the pricetag is a big turn off. In fact I am quite hesitant on dropping a grand on the Kimber. I am just looking for a good home defense pistol (1911 based) that I can also take to the range. 0 -
pt1911, check it out 0 -
kimber has a wear rate of 50,000 rounds, 20,000 rounds in the aluminium models, wilson combat has a rate of 500,000 rounds before it shows the same amount of wear, nighthawk is held to the same standard, not that most will ever shoot that much, mine has close to 30,000 now, and is as tight and accurate as the day i bought it, if you compare them to cars sure a caviler will get you there using the same gas as a cadillac but i would enjoy the reliabilty and comfort much more, and i have heard this argument about kimber being just as good as my wilson from several people with them never even holding one let alone shooting one, i have turned everyone who could afford it at my range into a wilson fan, one of our local gun shops is now a wilson combat master dealer thanks to me
lifetime warranty vs. kimbers 1 year says it all0 -

Have you ever watched Bill Wilsons demonstrations where he uses the Bearing grinder with the different lubes?
Are the Wilson firearms wear factor due the metals used or the Wilson Combat Ultima-Lube Gun oil?
I respect your opinion on Wilson products.0
