ok do these thing really help

The accuwedge will tighten up the play betwen the lower and upper receiver.
I have used them on some real loose fitting receivers and they worked great and on a receiver like you describe with a small amount of play you can use a razor blade to trim the bottom of the accu wedge to fit because a full AW will make the fit to tight and you will not be able to get the take down pin pushed back in.
For the most part they are not neccesary but they will tighten the fitup.0 -
just how are they supposed to increase accuracy? sure they tighten the fit between the upper and lower, but other than a more consistant strike on the firing pin i don't see where the accuracy is supposed to improve.... am i missing something? 0 -

Im notr real sure of that myself I guess to see it really works Ill have to do a range test with it installed and without it dang another day wasted at the range [:0][}:)][}:)][:D][:D]0 -
If you are looking for the accuwedge to improve accuracy you are wasting your time. All it does is tighten the fit between the upper and lower receiver.
Basically a bubble gum fix. But it does tighten the fitup.0 -
i've ran across some loose fit ar's and i've often mentioned using this to reduce the free play, but till your post i've never sat down and thought of how exactly this is supposed to increase your accuracy.... without an actual test of it i'm just guessing that any increase will be minimal. 0 -
I guess you guys have never shot an AR rifle where the barrel and buttstock point in two different directions when assembled then... Getting rid of wobble between the upper and lower recievers does indeed increase accuracy, that is, if you're a good shooter to begin with. 0 -
I guess if you have your rear sight mounted on your butt stock an accuwedge would help your accuracy.
If you know how to use rifle sights to aim with and not your butt stock an accuwedge will not make you or your AR more accurate.0 -
They help with accuracy by making it a more stable weapon. It being a bubblegum fix is about right. I've bought and used accuwedges before, but what I normally use is a small eraser cut to fit with a razor and placed in the lower receiver. It does the same thing for only 29 cents. Taking the rattle and overall loose feel out of a weapon goes a long way.

The small amount of play between the upper and lower is nothing compared to the amount of play in a collapsable stock.0
