Nice Demo!!! 0 -
that looked like it hurt the wrist a bit. but i dont think a bear would think twice[;)] if you catch my drift 0 -
So what's the baddest as far as a bear round? .500, .454, or .460? 0 -
That hurts just watching. I have a Red Hawk in .454 and it is a REAL handful with full power loads. 0 -
LJWrench any of them.Take your pick. The .480 Ruger is a good choice as well.Out of the 3 I would go with the .460 just because I have fired the .500/.454/.480 Ruger and the .460 S&W and the .460 is the most user friendly plus you can shoot .454 and .45 Colt from it so I would give it top nod.A .44 Magnum will do well to but of the choices I say .460. 0 -
Thanks for the info. I don't live in bear country but would love to have a big 'ole revolver just for the fun (pain) of having one. 0 -
Thats a right nasty little critter! Got to make the hand hurt, but a lifesaver in big bear country.[:0] 0 -
I'll pass on it, to much for me[:D][8D][:0] 0 -
Have a friend with a S&W .460,.........long barrel though, plus ported.
Not really that bad, although I wouldn't want to put 100 rounds through it at the range![;)]0 -
Ive fire the .500S&W/.454Casull/.480Ruger/.460S&W and to me the .460XVR was the most user friendly. The .500 was harsh but not all that uncomfortable, the .454 was extremely quick and sharp and the .480 Ruger was like a really strong push. The .460 was the most tolerable to me followed by the .480Ruger. 0 -
The .500 is pretty much a handful with the 440 grain JSPs. It's quite nice though with the long barrel. Its muzzle energy is somewhere around 2800 ft lbs if I remember correctly. Even if my numbers are off, that's way more power than any of the others. So if it came to all that in bear country, the 500 is what I'd like to push around in my wheelbarrow. 0 -

I bought a Ruger Alaskan last year and figured I would load some Corbon +P+ rounds in it. Big mistake! It has a different type of recoil. It goes in your hand first, then your chest before recoiling upwards. It bruised the web in my thumb and the veins. And yes, I held it with two hands! One bad ass little snubnose! Might sell it on here soon just too much gun.

Just keep hot .45Colts in it. 0 -
Has anyone looked at the S&W emergency survival kits? They have a 2 1/2 inch barreled 460 or 500 S&W in them, a video, and a survival kit of sort. Not sure if they put any wipes or DEPENDS in there...hehehehehehe 0 -
The S&W .500 Magnum, is the only gun that I have shot once, and handed it back to the guy that it belonged to!
After you shoot the first time, I don't see how anybody would not flinch, knowing what was about to take place again.
You can keep them as far as I am concerned, but then again, I don't have to worry about "Grizzlies".0 -
