We might have to talk. I want to do the same thing to the one I bought tonight. However, I have no clue what year it is.

To answer your questions, in order:

No, I see no problem with doing it.

    1) If it adds to your shooting pleasure, go for it--especially since you're gonna keep it.
    2) Can't help you with this one; it's between you and Git-r-Done.
    3) If, should you ever decide to part with it, be forthright that you had it modified.
    4) IMHO, the only reason NOT to do it, depending on cost, and what you want to put into the rifle.

My buddy has one of the 91/30 "snipers" from Inter-Ordinance; I can tell you, honestly, that they are a hoot to shoot. His can take easy headshots (hit a cantelope) out to 300 yards.

I thought that too but then I also thought they would choose to put the scopes on the newest and possibly rifles that were at the high end of the tolerances for their distance snipers. I don't know. I did read that the PU sniper rifle was the most produced military Sniper rifle of all sniper rifles. The armorers may have installed scopes on some older specimens if they were prroven to be a cut above other rifles in accuracy. That I don't know either, but it is possible I guess.
