No Dauphin Island has been been put back together well.Its still going but we actually got hit harder here by Hurricane Ivan than Hurricane Katrina.Ivan walked all over us. 0 -

I'm originally from Birmingham. Have ALOT of family all around Huntsville and surrounding areas. I am now in Louisiana, which by far has the best seafood, IMHO.

Born and raised in northwest Conecuh county, been in Mobile and Dauphin Island for 30 years. Love the salt water fishing and diving the rigs and wrecks in the Gulf. 0 -

Seafood? Winchell's Oyster Bar (Fried, stewed, and nude), Original Oyster House on the causeway, Bayou La'Batre shrimp (Remember Forrest Gump?), all these are just around Mobile. Mobile also has the Dew Drop Inn on Old Shell Road. Makers of the best cheeseburgers around. Immortalized by Jimmy Buffett in the song "Cheeseburgers in Paradise" and who still eats there when he comes to town.
Even sushi bars are starting to pop up in our area. [;)]0 -
Alabama girl here... Heron Bay Al, just north of Dauphin Island but hey everything is north of Dauphin Island. Went to school in Bayou La Batre.. Father lives Irvington Al now, two brother live in the Bayou still.. Myself, I married a wonderful man from Virginia and moved here 26 years ago. I still love going back home every year. 0 -

Me and a buddy drove from Texas to Cedar Bluff, Alabama to go crappie fishing for a week last year and I've got to say it's some of the prettiest country and some of the nicest folks you'll ever find.
