Anyone heard of this/ Help ?
My youngest brother in law bought a H&R Single shot .270 rifle before I knew him. Yesterday we had a barbeque and he was telling me about it and showed it to me. He said it came with a muzzle break from the factory. He didnt like it because he said it burst your ears to shoot it. So his dad has a lawn mower/hardware store and all the tools so he cut the muzzle break off right. It did not even come close to touching the crown of the barrel, and by looking you could not tell that there was ever anything cut off. He said he ruined the gun, after he cut the muzzle break it shot all over the place, remember the crown was not even close to where he cut the break off. What do you think caused this problem? Can it be repaired without a new barrel?

I'll guess barrel harmonics. Fixed? It could be done. It probaly involves a new barrel or "balancing" the current one. 0
