Ammo question

I never got into the "Black Talon" ammo craze. As a matter of fact, I don't see why someone would plunk down a fortune for a box of it at a gun show but I see it all the time. People are ooooing and ahhhing over it.However, I have a question that stems from curiosity. I have seen two types of ammo that came after Black talon was discontinued. One is the Winchester SXT and then the Winchester Law Enforcement Ranger SXT. What is the difference? To clarify, I am currious about the differences between the following: http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=2986160 http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=2961916 http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ctd/product.asp?dept_id=201020&sku=67588&imgid=&mscssid=0J35HXK68HRK8GMVDHRKJ9EDAXNH72A5 [This message has been edited by idsman75 (edited 01-28-2002).]

Speer 380 90gr HP and it looks good and hits hard but on the box it says Not for LE use Not to be repackaged and Practice ammo. Nickle case and Speer marking by the primer. It was packaged in bulk 250 rds and seems funny it's listed as practice ammo. Shot some and has a strong felt recoil.

What is it and why listed as stated above

Academy sporting goods carries Monarch at 3.45 for 20. I belive Cabelas is still cheaper if you want bulk.

Jacob, the Wolf ammo should not be corrosive. There is no newly made ammo that is corrosive, at least I've never heard of any. The US military stopped using corrosive ammo in 1953 I think.

Have you looked at the auctions here on GB for ammo?

AIM has been pretty good lately with their prices....

    Midway

    Gulf Coast Ammo

Whatever you do make certain they have it in stock before you pay for it and take into account whatever shipping they are adding to the price. They are all within a few dollars of each other....with 7.62x39 it doesn't really matter which one you get. Not like some of the other caliburs like .223 where you need to stay away from steel cases because it is hard on the extractor. An AK-47 is a work horse and doesn't care much about ammo.

Dunhams sports store had it for 2.99 a box. Funny thing is that they only ran the special in certain markets. BUT if you go to any store and tell them, they will call another store and confirm the price, then they honor the prices.

I know the Altoona Pennsylvania store ran the ad.[:D]
