I swapped my Beretta Storm .45 rifle over to lefty and when I attempted to re-install it in the lefty slot it "pingtingalinged" across the shop and I could not find it. Luckily I had saved some spring steel that was close to the same size, I filed down the difference tested it with a mag ( had only memory as a reference to length) and installed it. It works fine, then I was cleaning up the shop and guess what? Yep I found that sucker [:p][:p]!Oh well if the other one ever wears out I have a "new" spare.

  Even though your bootlegged spring works now I would put the factory spring back in for the dependability of a tried and tested part.
  Save the bootlegged spring for the spare instead of waiting for it to fail before you put the factory one back in. Just my thoughts.[8D]
