AK mags question...can anyone help me?
Okay, so I'm an IDIOT--is it okay to call myself one?--but I can't seem to discern what causes YUGO mags to keep the bolt open after the last round has been fired.
Is this a characteristic ONLY of YUGO mags?
What should I look for to distinguish YUGO mags from others?
Do YUGO mags work (well) in Romanian/Norinco/etc. AK?
Do Romanian/Norinco/etc. mags work (well) in YUGO AKs?
I'm new to the Kalishnikov (just recently purchased a YUGO w/underfolder) so I need some help here, PLEASE?!?!?

Hi, I Belive it has to do with the mag follower that makes the bolt hold open and it is only on the yugo mags. Good luck im sure other members know more. 0 -
Yes the Yugo mags have the hold open follower. Most AK mags are interchangeable between countries. You have to try them out first. Yes the yugo mag will work in a romanian- I have tried it. But I don't think they will work in a norinco. The romanian will fit in the yugo. 0 -
I dont know.
I kinda went to the gun shop
Picked up a mag
Handed them 15 bucks
walked out.
Shoots fine as far as I know0 -
If I remember correctly the DDR mag followers do not hold the bolt open but the Chinese mag followers do. About the time California came up with the 10 round mag law Tapco made up some followers that would make a 5 round 7.62X39 AK mag into a 10 round mag. I don't know if they work well in a hi cap mag or if they hold open or not but it is worth looking into. This is a item that I expect should be listed on GB most of the time. 0 -
