OK- for all that are bored- What do the following words have in common? Chickens, Robins, Boas, Pythons, Rope Tricks, Red Snow, Green Cheese, and Peacocks??? Hint- they are all loud. REALLY loud. Google is cheating, y'all.

DING DING DING DING ! We have a winner! Yes- all of the above terms have been used in connection with Nuclear Devices. Red Snow, Green Cheese, and Blue Peacocks were British nuclear devices. Robins, Boas, and Pythons were US designs. Rope Trick refers to a phenomenon where supporting cables for a ground tested device produce a spike in the fireball. Oh- the chickens? There was once design for a British Nuclear Landmine. There was a concern that the device could not stand up to winter temps in Germany- so a prototype was created with spaces for live chickens- their body heat would keep the electronics warm. Gives a whole new meaning to Extra Crispy. [:D] BTW- the first Nuke Test in India was code named "Smiling Buddha".
