Got a new toy!!!
Before anyone blast this I know I need to post pictures but can't right now. Anyway, I picked up an unfired G series FN/FAL today. It is one of the ones on the "list" and is mint with the only mark being where someone moved the selector on it ,not bad for $3500. Got rid of my Bushmaster AR-10 to get this. Can't wait to take it shooting, even though some would say it's a crime to shoot a perfect specimen. Anyway, had to share my happiness with you all.[:D]

Wow they mistakingly considered those as "machine guns" for a while.
With reference to the FN FAL "G" series rifles, from September 5,
1959, to January 10, 1963, the Browning Arms Company, St. Louis,
Missouri, imported 1836 FAL rifles in caliber 7.62 from Fabrique
Nationale, Herstal, Belgium. Subsequent to January 10, 1963, the
Bureau classified this rifle as a machinegun. However, it was
determined that the 1836 rifles imported by Browning Arms Company
would be exempt from the provisions of the NFA. The serial numbers
of the affected rifles are those numbers listed in the Firearms
Curios or Relics List, ATF Publication P 5300.11 (10-95), Page 20.
Further, twelve FN FAL rifles were imported through an
administrative error in 1974. These twelve rifles are exempt from
the provisions of the NFA, but are not classified as curios or
relics. The serial numbers of these twelve rifles are 889768,
889772 through 889777, 889800 through 889801, 889803, 889805, and
889809.

It is evident from the testimony that these rifles, when
seized, were not in condition to deliver automatic fire. However,
the basic rifle was originally designed to shoot, automatically,
more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function
of the trigger, although these particular FN-FAL rifles were
assembled by Browning without the automatic sear normally found on
the basic rifle and also have selector switches and trigger
plungers of a slightly different design from that on the basic
rifle. As a result they are unable to deliver full automatic fire
as presently constituted. If the automatic sear is installed in
one of these rifles, it still cannot be fired automatically, since
the design of the modified trigger plunger and modified selector
switch prevents automatic fire.0 -
It's not one of the twelve, it's the earlier ones. S/N # 904. One of the twelve later ones would have cost over $10,000. 0 -
