What is this?
The Issue
Tragedy struck The Grand Triad today, as a gunman killed three people in a suburban shooting rampage. The community is united in grief, but divided in opinion as to what should be done.
The Debate
1. The strongest voices demand tighter gun controls. "The only way to prevent further atrocities is to take the guns out of the hands of the murderers," says anti-gun campaigner Pip Utopia. "There's no justification for them in today's society. We need tighter regulations on who can hold guns, so only our police and military have them."
[Accept]
2. "That's not all we need," says radical left-wing activist Chastity Utopia. "The government should ban all guns outright--even in the police force. This is an opportunity to make The Grand Triad a totally gun-free state."
[Accept]
3. "Guns don't kill people, people kill people," says NRA head honcho Beth Wu. "If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. Is that what we want? Think, people. The answer isn't to ban guns. It's to crack down on those Hollywood movies and computer games that glamorize violence. They're the real criminals."
[Accept]
The Government Position
The government has yet to formalize a position on this issue.
"Our finest tribute to our fallen dead would be to convince their sons that we were not Rambo and neither are they. -Gus Hasford

Let me go take a pic of the backside, BRB0 -
Maybe something that was used for a spear, or the hole could be for rope and it was used as a stake for a tent or something? 0 -
Or could it have been used for a knife, and the hole was for a peg or something to go through to hold it on?
Maybe the wood handle (I assume) has rotted away.0 -
It looks like one of the parts that holds the cutting blade of a sickle bar rides in. I am trying to find a pic for you now. Sorry I don't think you made a war find, but I do believe it is an old one. 0 -
it was used for logging. 0 -
Hahahhaa.........bunch of city folk answers!
It is off a hay mower's sickle bar! Not for logging or any of the other answers. Nwcid was right.
When i was a kid, we used to make "throwing stars" out of these. Bolt four of them together, one facing each direction, and you have a 2 lb throwing star that'll go right through a piece of plywood!
FUN!
Merc (who often wonders how he made it through childhood......)0 -
I could not find a pic of that older style. If you look down on this page there are some new "double" style ones http://www.farmparts.co.uk/products/tractorcombineparts/combineswather.htm . Think what kind of throwing star you could have made with that [:D]
Zebra if there is a farm musem(sp) they may like something like that. I don't believe it is worth any thing.0 -

I think you maybe right on that one [:(] Maybe I'll sell it on Ebay as a Cival War relic!0 -
yes that bottom pic looks like a sickil mower but the top pic looks like a spike they drove into logs to attatch wire rope. 0 -
The country boys have it. It's a sickle mower guard. Changed a few of them out when I was little. Not many of them go bad.....just the blades. Then we got a swather.........[:)][:)]
