Question Regarding Offers For Sale
Offers for sale are not allowed. However, want ads are allowed.
Say I am seeking a Webley-Vickers .50-80 machine pistol, and I can't find one on the auctions, so I post a want ad here.
Well, ol' Walter Mitty down in sunny Florida just happens to have a minty Webley-Vickers .50-80 machine pistol, and since he has had to give up snipe hunting, he is willing to let it go.
At what point does this become an "offer to sell?"
I make an offer to buy. Walter offers me what I am looking for. Can we get together via email and handle it, or must Walter list his W-V on the auction site and let me bid on it?

I think it was me this time. I got my first poooooof be gone [:D]. I listed 2 auction links in a plug. One was for GB and one wasent. I thought it would be ok since they were links to an auction that is not for the type of stuff listed on GB. 0 -
gb throws us scraps thru the use of want ads.
the big money is for people outright selling things on real auctions. this is why ebay went down hill. they cut into the little guys pockets looking to buy and sell little things. it got to a point that it wasnt worth it anymore, because the only people bidding on these little things were people who could afford the luxury of overpaying for it. the little guys stuff went stale and the fun of trading and aquiring for little guys went sour.
if you start making people with want ads having to get it thru an auction, the time and crap one must got thru to get it makes it not worth the time.
if gb does this, they will help the old fashioned gunlist get a boost again. people will just place ads in the gunlist. heck, why not...they gotta pay for the advertising anyway.
we are taught that the best things in life are free.
but to retail businesses like gb or any other website...the best things in life are 'fee.'
sad day indeed when you see a fine website cater to full retail for profit, rather than the little guy for fun and good deals.0 -
