Good job Doug, my prayer is that I can say the same things about my girls in the next 11 and 15 years.

Congrats Doug. Takes a special parent to accomplish what you have done with your children.

    Doug,

Chalk it up to good parenting and the rest is primarily up to her.[;)]

Congradulations on your success. My girl will be 15 in a few months. So far, all is good. She makes all A's in honor classes, still gives me a hug in the car when I drop her off at school or anywhere, talks to me about almost everything, and has respect for her elders and other peoples property. If there is any secret I need to know Doug, please let me know. Wish me luck.

Speaking as a father who lost his daughter to the world, if you are the father of a girl, date her yourself on a regular basis starting at age 10 or 11. Take her out, show her how she should be treated, teach her to expect (no DEMAND) that any boy who gets the privilege of dating her at the right time, should treat her the same. Make sure you find a way to stay connected with her and she won't go looking for love from another man for the wrong reasons.

I only confess this to help another man out if he's facing the same potential issue...... I had NO connection with my daughter when she turned 10 or 12. We had nothing in common, she hated sports, she was not athletic, she didn't like anything I liked. So I didn't find a way to find something WE could like together i.e. horses, bowling, music, anything she would like and I COULD like to keep us connected. I lost her to another man too early and he left her in a mess with a child.

Today, my daughter and I are close and fully reconciled but only after all the pain that I could have avoided.

Fathers, take time, make time, give time to your daughters. Don't expect your wife to raise your daughter. By God's design, your female child needs male companionship, if she doesn't get it from YOU, she'll find it in the wrong places.......... .

Date your daughter and love her unconditionally until you walk her down the aisle to give her to a godly man who has proven he is worthy to have her and you'll both live happily ever after.

Oh and Doug, you've done well, but trust me partner, my daughter is now 30 years old and requires every bit as much daddy advice and love as she ever did, she's still my baby girl.

I also have a son and we're close, always have been, love everything together even now that he has a wife and kids of his own. The difference was he made it easy for me to like spending time with him. they BOTH require your time and energy and love to turn out like they should.
