Was I wrong ?
I was down at the local VFW today and went next door to this soup and salad place. Got a salad and took it back to tha VFW. I like low lights as they had been all day. So, the guy calling bingo comes in and turns on the bright lights an hour before bingo starts. I'm setting there minding my own business when the lights come on. So I ask the bingo king if the lights were necessary. He says yes that that the bingo crowd would start coming in soon as bingo started in an hour. And then he added that food wasn't supposed to be brought in from out side. What an a**hole I thought to my self. I got pissed and snapped back that it was not his problem as that I was leaving. Well, I went to another table and the more I thought about it the madder I got. I had two choices. Slink out the door or tell him what I thought. So I went to the office and the post commander was in there talking to bingo a*sking. I told bingo boy my name and that I was a lifetime member and that I had never met anyone at that post that I didn't like until I met him. Then I told him I thought He was an aS*hole. He said the feeling was mutual and I said I wouldn't have it any other way. He didn't bow up and stayed in his chair so I told him to have a nice day and left.
Was I wrong ? I'm tired of taking cra@ from jerks.. Hairy don't answer this post because we are all wrong according to you.

sounds like you took it way to personally... 0 -
sounds like you were having a bad day. I think your reaction a bit exaggerated. Had I been him, I would have told you before turning up the lights that I would be getting ready to run the bingo session, but I would have gone about my business after telling you. 0 -
You were not wrong to tell him how you felt but you were wrong about the outside food. Don 0 -
I think you took things a little far...... 0 -
Good 1 Rufus,it's all about you,Huh? 0 -
You did take it personally.
However, Tell me one bar of any kind(besides a restaurant) that doesn't allow you to order pizza? If a bar only serves "bar snacks" then they always let you bring in food. Maybe he'd like to force his rules on the bartender so that they can't bring their own food in from the outside.

I respect what the majority of you guys think. Maybe I was wrong. But why don't I feel bad about it? Haven't you ever had the feeling that someone was trying to run over you ? 0 -
yeah. But if I had to guess I'd say that you were down, and he was arrogant. I know those types well. They think that since they help so much with the club that they're "in charge of the membership". It is VERY irritating.

I would have told him to piss up a rope but I still would have been a little wrong. Don0 -
I would say you were wrong...the club is there for the benefit of all...not just you and that is how it seems you are thinking....
I think you dont feel bad about it cause you think you are/were right...
The guy calling bingo, is he a member as well?...0 -
You did nothing right. You should have waited until he set his glass down
then pissed in it. [:D][:D]0 -
Good for you.....I too have a lot of evil people plotting against me, but they will eventually get what they deserve and in the end I will have my revenge and then they will be sorry they ever crossed me.....
Gotta go now....pizza's here...Those morons better not have added anchovies or they'll wish they had never been born......0 -
Yea, I guess he's a member. I've never seen him before.I have a tendency to fly off the handle. The Doctors at the V.A. have a name for it but I don't want to go in to that right now. They are giving me meds for it. 0 -
Most VFWs are not for the benefit of individual vets anyway. Try being a young vet in the VFW or American Legion- it is even harder. They only want their bingo and card playing buddies from their "real" wars. 0 -
You got the right idea hicap47, Don't let him get away with it, The punk A#shole. 0 -
[8D]--Based on what you've said---

You were right to get angry, but, wrong to lose self-control. If you're still fuming about something this minor and it bothers you that much, then stay away from the VFW. 0 -
If, as you say, you think he was a member, then he as well as you know the rules about the food...

This may be a bit hard to take in, but I would say you owe the guy and apology...and possibly the commander..0 -
...yeah, you were wrong...when he said you were an azzhole you should have jap slapped him...geez, all this peace and love booh-wha-hockey...[;)]

No, you behaved perfectly..........for a 5 year old! 0 -
You must know what being five is like, gunbunny, since one of your very first posts just got poofed into oblivion. 0 -
With membership in the VFW hurting so badly that they now consider those currently serving in the Republic of Korea as eleigible for membership, I would say that the Bingo twerp was out of line in harassing any Life member.
OTOH I know that we have Bingo players who arrive as much as 6 hours early on our bingo night, so he did have a point about it being time to turn up the lights.
I guess there's a some blame for both of you here.
Forgive, forget, move on.0 -
sounds like somebody got up on the
wrong side of the rock.0 -
He didn't try to throw you out because of the chow so call it square and move on. Don't worry about an apology to anyone and don't lose any sleep over it. Just move on. 0 -
You did the right thing. Don
