Coos Bay to Salem ...
Slept in Coos Bay - headed north up and turned east north of Newport
... munched on a lot of salmon jerkey and tasted a lot of chowder and
sliders. I'm fer sure keeping this place a secret! In Salem lastnight and
will be up in Portland, today. The natives are all friendly but drive
slower. Destination signs are smaller and there seem to be fewer of
them. Checking out Bush house (different Bush) and someplace else that
Gale's been reading about
Portland and some friends tonight - time to socialize with the natives
again tonight.

Down by the pond ... gettin up the energy to
head north out of Coos Bay.

Great little hidden coves.

Rocks, seals and sea lions.

Found me a little summer boat - Gale said, "NO!" [:(]

Gale overlooking a nice Oregon Beach!

More nice coast.

More rocks, sea lions and seals.

Homes blended in with the coast.

I forgot to add perhaps the best photo of all - the light, up at Florence. ... it doesn't
get much better than that!
Dinner tip: Hotel Phoenix, downtown Salem, Had Oregon snapper & shrimp,
excellent.

zipperzap, Oregon has a law that says when a state resident gets behind the wheel, they first must turn off brain. When they leave the state they must check brain at the border. Up here there is nothing like an Oregon tourist. They don't seem to understand speed limit signs or diving the flow of trafic. 0 -
Its been a long time since we were up and down that coast line. Lived in Portland for 10 years, and would go to the coast any chance we got. We honeymooned at the "Inn at Otter Rock" 23+ years ago.. Great pictures!!!!!!! 0 -

It was 40 degrees all up and down the coast, driving rain and landslides. The coast guard tried to rescue a couple of California guys from a fishing boat, but they declined the rescue, asserting that they would prefer death to looking at one more Orygun woman.
