america loses another ww2 man
my best friend from service days lost his dad last month. i just learned of it. u.s army private john wargo. INFANTRY. europe campaign.
i will really miss him. he got out and raised a family in san bruno ca and was a lithographer. one of his sons served with me in the navy. i would go home with dave and i met him on liberty. i use to sit and listen to his war stories during my visits with dave at his home.
what a old timer. i'd go visit him...on liberty mind you, and if there wasnt anything going on with his son, he'd ask me to paint his house!
he told me how he was walking around a water tower in germany on patrol one morning, when coming from the other direction were 2 krauts. he said he didnt have time to think they were so close. he just squeezed off rounds from his m-1 carbine and they dropped. said he'll never forget it. didnt talk much other than that. but he did dust off his m-1 in the closet to show me. dave has it now.
he is survived by his 4 sons and 1 daughter and tons of grand kids. his wife left to be with God 15 years prior.

Bobski, would you happen to know his unit? My Dad was 2nd armd and I always try to place vets with their units maybe they were at the same places in their struggle. 0 -
It always hurts when hearing about the death of another WW 2 soldier.
May he rest in peace. Our ranks of those of us who served in WW 2 grow
thinner each day by 1,000 I am told. Only recently I lost contact with two old 3rd Inf Div friends I served with in WW 2. Kinda makes one wonder.0 -

Sorry to hear that about your friend. My dad passed away earlier this year. WWII Pacific Theater. A good man, I miss him everyday. This is our first Christmas without him. 0 -

hate to see these old timers go ...most of todays kids their age when they fought don't have any understanding of freedom & sacrifice.....how do you find the courage to do what some have done????? 0 -
