A life time or so ago I used to go see Ike and Tina in E. St. Louis, Illinois. They put on quite a show. This was before they hit big. Ike was not the best thing about the show. 0 -
He was great musician and some say he was the first Rock&Roller.
He also was a wife beater. That makes him NO GOOD whether he's dead or alive.0 -
He wasn't just a wife beater, he was also a serious junky most of his life. If I remember correctly he wasn't able to be present for his induction into the R&R Hall of Fame because he was in prison for drugs and weapons possession.
Rocket 88 was a milestone, but he would've been a one hit wonder if it weren't for hooking up with Tina Turner several years later. When she split with him her success skyrocketed and he fell completely off the radar.
May he rest in peace, but I don't believe in rewriting people's history just because they die.0 -
My dad is a huge opera fan, but we had two pop records, and one was Ike and Tina Turner's "Workin' Together", which had "Proud Mary" on it. I knew that record inside and out.
He may have been a sh-tty person, but he could ROCK!0 -
