Freedom?
Anyone heard this on the news?
The governor of Texas intends to mandate something along the lines of the following:
Through the use of physical force if necessary, any girl age 11 or older who attends any school in the state (be it public or private), is to receive a vacination of a shot that "prevents cervical cancer"
Scum bag, let me tell you something... First of all, the "shot" does not prevent all causes of cervical cancer. It is only protects against 4 strands of virus' that can cause cervical cancer. And these virus are almost exclusively transmitted through sexual contact.
And this shot comes from... who else? Merck - the company who brought us Vioxx, which caused 96,000 to go into cardiac arrest.
To the parents of any girls who aren't home schooled in the state of Texas... might I suggest violence as a solution? Apparently there is someone in your state who thinks he is in a better position to determine how you raise your daughters, and affect their health and well being than you are.

Yep I've been quit ticked off about this myself as I have two daughters. I think parents can opt out though. 0 -

I'd sure as hell hope so. Shame of it is that two decent girls are determined to be needing to be unnecessarily inoculated because of a few million pigs. Lock and load.0 -
The shot isn't even 100% effective. The supposed studies done claim these HP viruses are responsible for about 66% of cervical cancer cases... and that about half of adult women who have sex contract one of the viruses - which eventually can lead to cervical cancer. The viruses can also cause genital warts.
Well if half of all grown women have it, why the hell aren't women constantly dropping dead of cervical cancer? Alot more attention is focused on breast cancer. Why is that governor? If he's such a damn christian, why is he doing something that would likely make young women feel less concerned about STDs and teenage, premarital sex?
This is not a case of vacinating infants to prevent diseases later in life. This is about one freaking idiot trying to control people based on assumptions about young Texas women, and medical statistics that don't prove anything.0 -
If we are going to force this sort of thing on people, how about some serious social engineering?
Besides the HPV vaccination, let's also forcibly sterilize all girls who come from single parent homes, and from homes whose annual income is below a certain level.0 -
