There has to be an easier way..........
To reduce the file size of a picture to send it. How do you do it.
I have half my pics in the Pic folder of Windows and the other half in the canon XL file.
It is driving me nuts trying to get a photo size reduced so it will upload.
HELP!

Save them as .JPEG's instead of .BMP's. That'll reduce the file size. 0 -
Use a photo program to crop out the unnecessary background. 0 -

If you have a digital camera, the disk that came with it has photo editing software on it. Install it and learn how it works. In case you don't have that, I think there are free ones here and there on the web. 0 -
.....so there is nothing in the windows XP software that will allow the reduction of a picture without cropping or using paint???? 0 -
I email them to my self. When I go to my pictures, I'll highlight the picture I want resized and push email. Then a window pops up asking me if I want to make them smaller before I send them. I say yes and then email the photo to myself, and save the reduced picture back to my photos. Now it's ready for photobucket download. Long way around, but easy. 0 -
There are freeware and shareware applications that'll make the task relatively painless. Some will let you batch reduce the size of all images in a folder; others will let you simply drag and drop the image you want reduced onto the program icon.
Now that you're drooling, I can't point you to any specific programs.
Google something like freeware image editing batch. You'll probably have to look at about a dozen options before you find three that might work, and only one of those three will wind up being satisfactory. Hour's work today....hours and hours saved down the line.
Good luck
oh yeah: look first at a program called Irfanview. It's pretty high quality freeware and will let you batch process (but not drag and drop). (For those who don't care to pay the $$$ for photoshop, Irfanview is a good, free alternative.)0 -
photobucket.com has options that will let you up size or downsize, also will let you post pics on gb forums w/the link img under the pic you upload to your phtobucket account which is free just register you can upload as many as you want,if you have dial up it will be slow if not, lucky you![:D] left click on img link to copy and then use the eleventh symbol on the reply page on gb forums [img][/img] insert between these image symbols and post your reply, confused yet?[:D] 0 -
I use photoshop to resize mine to no more than about 650 x 650.
If you don't have PS or some other type software, as someone mentioned above, you can use photobucket. It will automatically resize large pic files. Don't know the specs...0 -
