Have any of you ever been there? What route did you take to get there? Problems? Pros-Cons? Cost of living compared to U.S.? Have heard of U.S. citizens going there but understand it is not legal. What is the penality?

Could Cuba shoot down a U2 now if they wanted to?

Could Cuba shoot down a Piper nowadays?

Wondering what you guys think about Americans not being allowed to go to Cuba.

Living in Florida for most of my life, going to preCastro Cuba was something many Floridians did for weekend trips for gambling and other "things".

Also a lot of Americans farmed down there.

Unfortunately, I never did get down there.

Not saying we should or should not go just wonder how you all feel about not having the choice.

Nothing is impossible, just very improbable.

Throw enough lead in the air, high enough and at the right time and eventually you'll hit *something*

Cuba likes Americans now - they want Americans to land, not
    fall burning from the sky.

We've got some Canadian friends who want us to meet them in Mexico
City next year and fly a charter to Cuba with them. They don't stamp
American passports when Americans come to visit. I'd love to go but
with my luck ... I'd be thrown in Gitmo as an international terrorist and
    passport abuse![:o)]

... seriously, according to our Knuck friends, you can fly there/back, live
like a king for two/three weeks for less than a grand!

... tempting ... but no cigar (for me).

Can't tell you much about Cuban military might, however, here's an outstanding Cuban Son Band, "Buena Vista Social Club - featuring Ry Cooder" performing "Chan Chan":

Cuba Libre - a concoction made from Bacardi and Coke - might set the proper atmosphere.

    Sit back and enjoy.
