If I remember correctly female box turtles are able to store sperm for years. Possibly that species of shark can also do this. Sheephead fish (West Coast species) all start out as females and change to males later in life.

It could be asexual reproduction but I would be skeptical until more specific proof is supplied.

Except that the shark in question has never been exposed to a male shark, so how could it store sperm? It was born into a tank containing other female sharks only and has never come into contact with a male shark.

I am pretty sure that some of the members of this forum are, at best, the result of multiple generations of asexual reproduction.

No, moderaters, I was not necessarily referring to you.

In the article is mention of other species of animals that have asexual reproduction. Is this now the trend in evolution? How far will it go?

In other words we are progressing into a lesbian sociaty?

I really don't mind lesbians aslong as they are good looking and are willing to sandwich me in the middle of them![:p][:D]

Males are a sex, not a species. Silly stuff, you would be talking devolution not evolution. Asexual reproduction limits genetic diversity and is/would be a liability for a complex species.

HEDOG" Yep, I should have put in the "Male of the Species" but sometimes get lazy. Most women would argue that men are a species of their own. And even I sometimes believe that.[;)]

Women, without a doubt, are a non-terrestrial species.
