DVR question about cable feed

    Sounds close. With mine the primary (one of them) is in the bedroom. Cables come into the box for it. Then cable runs to the other (on that box) in the den. Same type hookup in other two bedrooms. Since I did not do the installatin, I am not totally sure but I think that you are correct.

    Just had a discussion with a friend who handles warranty repairs for all the well known names, about this subject, yesterday. I wanted to generate a Picture-in-a-picture in my TV by using the 2 separate inputs to the DVR. According to him, there is only one physical cable comming in. The way it gets different signals to the different TV is because the signals are part of a digitally encoded data stream and are separated by firmware in the box. He said that you are constantly recieving around 500 channels at once, and the firmware in the DVR sorts out the one you need for each box.

    So, only one cable comming in. Kinda like the data packets that enable the internet to work. He was much more detailed in his explanation, but I believe I got the concept right.
