Time to stop the country and vote 1 on 1?
Is it time to "stop the Country" and vote on certain binding referendums" that effect us? Such as Gun laws, Immigration laws, the words like Christmas, God, drug laws, school teachings on sex and diversity. Is it time to go back to basics our parents try to teach us
about real life? Not just what is pushed down our throats by certain
groups who seem to have the upper hands. At one time the majority ruled. Now this is out and no one seems to care. Seems like we asked for this bit, and now it is a bit late thanks to being brainwashed and
no one caring.

.........that a government of the people, by the people,
for the people, shall not perish. trouble is this nation is devided by religion, race, wealth, political, social and other diverse backgrounds, that to get all to pull one way is almost impossible. i'm starting to think the govment likes it this way, then most just follow along[V][V]0 -
Common fallacy...
"Majority Rules"....
Sure...majority rules...UNLESS it contravenes the Constitution. Then whatever the majority rules is just so much garbage.
Absent a corrupt Supreme Court/Corrupt politicans the Constitution works well....plus a corrupt peoples, willing to give up everything for the promise of protection from big brother...0 -
Joe ... wouldn't make a damn bit of difference!
There are some guys in long black robes who
would be happy to show you just how wrong
you were,
They'd declare everything unConstitutional and
go along their own merry way.
... it's happened (almost) countless times before.
... you're thinkin like an 'old guy' again, sorry.
I think the same way ... sigh![8D]

Learn the basics in school? You mean things like mathematics and science? What the heck would someone ever do with an education in those subjects-- besides becoming a pointy-headed, idiot engineer or a member of some other useless profession? Once NAFTA is repealed and all of those idle widget factories start hiring and filling up with high paid union jobs again an education will be no longer be needed...Just like the good old days when only a handful of Americans went to college. My parents taught me all about the basics of real life: Get an education, master a profession and then work hard. 0 -
It's past time...joe...it's past time. [V] 0 -
I would agree with you but that the majority is not always right at least in my humble opinion. If we had voted in a referendum back in 1861 concerning slavery I believe that slavery would have been voted "for". Does that make it right? The same could said about the Supreme Court. Was "Dred vs. Scott" the correct decision? To take it a step further, what about doing away with the Electoral College. I've been hearing a lot lately about aboloshing it and going to a simple majority in the presidential election. Do you want New York, Kalifornia, Illinios, and Massachusets deciding our next election? I sure as heck don't. We sure don't have the perfect system but it could be a lot worse (look at Canada and Europe). I tried to explain this theory to my lovely bride (who by the way is as conservative as they get) but she didn't get it. Maybe I've had to much wine. 0 -
Interesting perspective ... made me think.
... still thinking.
