However, I am no longer a Leader, but, still a Reader.
I got a Border's gift card for my Birthday last Sunday, and made the trek today to Salem, to spend it.
Here are the books I bought:
Non-fiction
Flyboys - James Bradley, author of Flags of Our Fathers - Stories of nine American Airmen shot down in the Pacific during WWII - one was former President George H. W. Bush.
Death Traps - Belton Y. Cooper - Story of the U.S. Third Armored Division from Normandy to Germany in WWII, by a Soldier that served in it.
An Ace of the Eighth - Norman "Bud" Fortier - The story of the author's exploits flying P-47 Thunderbolts and P-51 Mustangs in the European Theater in WWII.
Fiction
All written by W. E. B. Griffin, this is a trilogy of WWII tales that are rather complex. Griffin is one of my favorite novelists.

Blood and Honor
Secret Honor
All together about 3200 pages of reading. I probably won't get them all done tonight.

I read the whole brotherhood of war (the one that goes "the lts"-"the colonels". the series are kind of silmilar, and I really enjoyed them. Griffin also has a cool new one out about Muslim terrorists 0 -
I've read "Flyboy's" and "Aces of the Eighth". Both excellent books. Have fun reading them. 0 -
Doug...I have everyone of those books in my personal library. If you are like me (and from your book list, it sounds like you are!) you will absolutely love Belton's book, along with all of Griffin's. Belton was a maintenance officer, and some of the stories in his book are horrific. For example, he goes into lots of detail about having to "clean" out the Sherman's after they had been hit and the crewmen burned inside. He doesn't pull any punches.
Griffen is one of my favorites of all time. "Killer" McCoy is a heck of a character! Have you read any of the "Brotherhood of War" series? It is my favorite, by far. Follows the career of a goup of officers from WW2 through Vietnam and beyond. The "Badge of Honor" series isn't bad. It is about Philadelphia cops. Sounds like you have a good time ahead as you plow through your books!0 -
I've read the "Brotherhood of War" series on and off, and out of order, as I found them. This is the first time I've bought a whole series of his, at once. Some of his other books I have also read. He is a favorite author of mine and I'm looking forward to reading them.
I'm glad to hear a good view of the non-fiction stuff. Picking those out is sometimes pretty hit or miss - with plenty of misses.
Did you guys know that paperback books no longer cost $0.35 per book ??
