April 24 .. storms?
Well we made it through. At 2pm Tuesday we were fine.... at 3pm we had 70 mph winds, small hail and very heavy rains hit us.
It was nice, looked good, I was keeping an eye on the weather. Then I went to mess with some 30-06 brass I needed to get ready to reload, that was my mistake. I did not know anything was wrong until it went black, then it was too late. I hit the play button on the weather alert radio, I have no idea why I did not have it turned on to the ALERT postion. Well by the time I got to the window to look out it was allready here, talk about a blast of winds and rain, the sound was awful.
What bothered me the most was the weather raido was giving a tornado warning for us, the storm was so intenes we could not get to the shelter, this caught us flat footed big time.
I was worried about my daughter (our son is in different school 40 miles away) at 3 the bus is ready to leave the school , someone was thinking and pulled all the kids off the buss and got them inside and crowded them all in the restrooms, safest place to be in that school. I often wonder why it is schools in TORNADO ALLEY dont have shelters.
I have yet to get out and see what we have that may be torn up, we had just under 1.5 in rain in about 20 min. I can see my Dad's old boat is on its side and part of my cattle stalls are way in the back in the pasture. It did not feel anything come off the hosue this time, but I may be suprised when I get out and take a look.
So how did the rest of you folks make it? Let me know so I dont worrt about ya like an old mother hen.

most of it went around us, getting some heavy rain now but no winds. 0 -
we got the high winds. by the time Ii got home from work which was around 5:30 the winds had ripped the awning off of the camper left in a hurry for work and did not put it down my mistake. anyways just some high winds and heavy rain off and on.

Down here in the Piney Woods of East Texas we had lightning, thunder, and moderate winds starting at about 12:30am this morning with heavy rain and what sounded like occasional light hail. It came though in about 3 different waves with the last one about 3am. No apparent damage, but it did float a lot of bark out of our flower beds. 0 -
Down in town they got over 2" of rain, set a new record for that date. We got about a foot and a half of snow. The heavy wet kind. Busted some trees and bushes. Power was off and on. Cars in ditches ALL OVER the place. LOTS of wrecks. People just can't seem to understand, that when it's bad out, you HAVE TO slow down. 0 -

Having spent about 35 years in CA, earthquakes never really worried me, even though at one point we lived in the High Desert on the East side of the San Andreas fault. I always figured if a major quake occurred, I'd then have beach front property.[:D] We even rode out the Northridge quake while up there. However, now that we are retired and back in Texas we are readjusting to tornados and sever thunder storms.[:0]0 -

I have always enjoyed violent weather, as long as no one I knew was getting hurt by it.
