What can you folks tell me about this org. Do you really get to test gear as a member? What kind of an organization is it?

I received a "you lucky dog" letter stating I was chosen to join the north american hunting club!
A little on line research shows that they put out a magazine and they say their dues are cheap.
This is the second "you lucky dog" letter I have received from them and I am looking for any feedback about them, positive or negative, as I am considering joining them.
    Thanks in advance,
    DSM

If you want someone sending you stuff you didnt order, yep they are OK. I made the mistake of joining and 30 days after I paid my dues I started getting letters saying my dues were due in 11 months and got a letter every month reminding me when they were due. Next I started getting books that I had no Interest in and then there were the Jackets and sleeping bags that I could try for thirty days at no cost. I called them and told them that they didnt have to remind me when my dues were due but, right on schedule here came the notice, and more books so I dropped them like a hot potato

I joined a long time ago when they really had member serivces but now it's just a magazine and lots of advertising. Nothing bad about the club itself and they provide good information about hunting.

I had a very hard time getting them to quit charging me for stuff I did not order.

Just a fancy name for a magazine peddling books and stuff.

    Same experience here.

And those books they send you that you didn't order are expensive too.

I was a charter member back when,I had opted to join it instead of The Rocky Mtn Elk Foundation, because it took most all huntable wildlife in consideration, but after changing addresses many times chasing drilling rigs all over the world, things didn't catch up with me and my membership lapsed, sometimes think about contacting them to see if any way to regain my chartermember status, always thought it was a good org just trying to help out hunters, don't know what it has turned into.

I'm a life member as well. I got so tired of them sending me things that I emailed them and told them that if they sent me any more stuff I was going to keep it as a gift. They did, and I did and soon I quit receiving their crap.

I did. They sent me a hard plastic bow case for testing. It was a piece of injection molded poopy. The review I filled outlisted all the shortcomings in quality, fit, and finish. Needless to say they did not publish my review. I got to keep it. One of my kids has it under his bed full of arrows. I was a member for many years before this happened.

They could send me free stuff for the next ten years and I won't join after the problems I had with them.

I have been a life member since 96 and have not received anything but books and books. I sent them back at first but stopped because I never ordered anything. Do not receive anything now. Don

I was of the first 2000 members when it was founded it was good back then, has become nothing more than a money making org. little real content any more. they also have several other "clubs" you can join. [ diy wood working and others.] the club owners are just in it and the other clubs for the cash, not at all any more for the members in my opinion. Bob

I've been a life member sence '92 and I have never had a problem with them. Yes I did get a few books and stuff in the first year or so but I kept them as a gift, you cannot be charged for itams you didn't order, now they don't send me anything. I love the magazine and I find the writing and content to be much better than the other hunting mags out there. also being a life member I never have to worry about getting the renewal notices or anything like that. I just recieve every issue that comes out and they have never lost me in the last 15 years plus my life membership paid for itself 6 or 7 years ago so now it's just a free mag.
