Gonna volunteer, again...
A couple of years ago, I was a volunteer at the Evergreen Aviation Museum - home of the Spruce Goose - in McMinnville, Orygun. When I got sick I had to leave, but I'm going to start back three weeks from Tuesday.
This is a huge aircraft museum, second only to the National Air & Space Museum.
If any of you find yourselves in Orygun, send me an email or call, and I can get complimentary passes for up to 5 people at a time. They are usually about $15 apiece.
I don't have to be on duty to get you in, but I do need to accompany you.

Great offer. I always wanted to see the Spruce Goose in person. 0 -
Just let me know when.

I am still grumbling that the Hercules was moved from Long Beach and sent north to Oregon because I visited the plane several times and always enjoyed it. HH may have been "loonie tunes" in his later years but he was an outstanding aviator and a brilliant engineer who had very little formal engineering training. 0 -
Very cool!
The wife and I are going to up in your neck of the woods in the next 3-4 weeks.
We've got some friends in Portland we want to see ... and are driving up the OR ,
WA coast to Seattle.
For years we've done the '80Mph. Hiway 5 ballet' and we've decided to poke
around up there along the coast and smell the proverbial roses and beach sand.
Never saw the Spruce Goose when she was in Long Beach and decided we'd
finally get a look at her.
We'll take you to lunch.

Stopped by there once when I lived in Tillamook area and was heading to Portland. It's pretty cool. 0 -
I knew you were a good guy, Doug. Thanks for the offer, but I'm like Jimmy Carter's brother, Billy. I never go anywhere where I can't get home in the same day, and I live in Virginia. But that's still very nice of you to offer. 0 -
Looking at the calender, it appears that I start on July 3rd.
Any time after that will be fine.
zip - as an aside, a couple of times I have driven down the superslab to LA and returned via 101. Takes me around 16 hours from here to LA, and my last trip, I timed it on the Coast Route from Sacrament home - 29 hours.
It's a gorgeous trip - you'll love it.
It will be good to meet you. Maybe some other Orygun GB folks will come to meet you.
It'll be great !
